Laura spent some time at home making a book review on a novel that she has read.  She wrote the sentences out in her notebook and the recorded herself using Explain Everything.

Magnets

We have started our learning journey about magnets.  Austen spent some time at home making different things out of his magnets and shared them with the Pod this morning. Thanks so much Austen.

We have been learning to add / subtract two numbers by counting on and back in tens.  We had to show HOW we got our answering by explaining the strategy we used.

Way to go Hunter!

Our very own Hunter got to lead the Running of the Wools at the Hilux Games in Feilding on Friday 10th March.  He was at the start ready to let the sheep begin the race. Thanks Mum for entering him into such a cool competition and it's so cool that he won!!!  Look at his amazing smile, it just shows how much he is enjoying himself.

He sure looks like he had an amazing time and came home with a great experience and loads of prizes!

Year 2 Swimming Demonstration

A massive thank you to all the parents that managed to come down to watch their child's swimming demonstration today.  Looks like everyone had a great time and the sun came out in time for us!!

Value of the Week

Handwriting

Another way we use ipads in Aroha Pod is when the students are doing their handwriting.  They chose a letter / blend / diagraph / day / month that they need to learn or get better at, find the slide with it on and copy it down.  Students will also be told what letter to concentrate on if it is noticed during writing time that it has been written wrong.  The teachers roam around making sure that letters are formed correctly, are tall or short depending on the letter and that they face the right way.
